The tigers became Clemson's nickname in 1896, but it wasn't until the 1970s when the present Tiger began to roam Death Valley's sidelines. Howard’s Rock, originating from the real Death Valley, made its debut in 1967. Together, The Tiger and the rock are Clemson.
